Biography
I’m a lawyer and trusted strategic advisor to a range of sporting entities around the world. I’ve spent my whole career operating within and leading high-performing teams in demanding environments.
Having grown up in Nottingham, I signed my first professional cricket contact after leaving school aged 18. I was a member of the Nottinghamshire squad that won the County Championship in 2005, and during my career I played and coached in six countries across four continents. I played in the ICC Under 19 World Cup in 2002 and captained teams including England Under 19s, Oxford University, and Cambridgeshire. Having balanced professional cricket with studying law between 2002 and 2005, I played the last of my 21 first-class matches in 2008 and the following year started working for an international law firm in London.
I worked as an Associate in Bird & Bird LLP’s number-one ranked teams in the Media, Entertainment & Sport, and Technology & Communications sectors. I represented a range of sports clubs, federations and rights-holders, and spent time on secondment with The Football Association at Wembley. I also contributed to a range of industry publications on intellectual property rights and was the author of the UK chapter of a pan-European comparative publication.
In 2016 I moved out to Dubai to work as Legal Counsel for the International Cricket Council. In this role I advised all areas of the organisation on the ICC’s functioning as the global governing body for the sport, and led the legal support for World Cups and other global tournaments. I was responsible for a range of issues relating to cricket’s normative framework, including drafting the Playing Conditions for international cricket and advising ICC’s Cricket Committee and other stakeholders on policy considerations affecting the global game.
In 2023 I founded Corium Consulting, using my unique perspective and global experience to provide a range of advisory services and tailored solutions to my clients. Over the past year I have completed a long-term project for a national Olympic committee as part of a government-funded sports strategy, as well as leading the legal support for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India.
